Early Years Education funding information

How does the Early Years Entitlement work at Little Learners?

Our families access their statutory and extended entitlement offer in a variety of different ways. Our stretched funding offer allows families to access fully funded childcare for 47.5 weeks of the year; to illustrate, the 30 hours are ‘stretched’ to cover the 47.5 weeks that we can offer funding, resulting in 24 fully funded hours being available per week. This allows families to choose the attendance pattern that suits them best. One of our most popular options is three ‘Short Days’ (8 hours x 3 days = 24 hours) however you can choose any combination of sessions to make up 24 hours. Unfortunately, children can not change their funding pattern midway through a funding year.

If you are wanting to change funded sessions, this can only be done and the start of a term (September, January and April) and then can not be changed again until the start of the following term.

If your Little Learner is entitled to the statutory funding only (15 hours per week) this is also stretched to allow children to attend 12 hours per week for 47.5 hours a year.

What are the unfunded dates?

Little Learners we are able to offer funding over 47.5 weeks of the year meaning that there are some part or whole weeks of the year that funding is not available. Parents/carers will be invoiced for any sessions that would usually be covered by funding during the unfunded weeks to allow your child to attend their usual booking pattern.

We are pleased that many of the unfunded days fall on Bank Holidays or at Christmas when Little Learners Nursery is closed and fees do not apply, therefore parents are unaffected by these unfunded dates.
